Obedience
Obedience - Beginners NoseWork
The new sport of canine NoseWork is growing in popularity across the country. It was inspired by military and police working scent detection dogs. The UKC is adopting a NoseWork program and it will be titling event in the near future. The dogs search for legal odors of birch, anise, clove, myrrh, and vetiver. There are 5 levels and 4 element searches; container, vehicle, interior and exterior searches in the UKC program. NoseWork will build your dog’s confidence and focus which will carry over to other dog sports.
This beginner course is designed to prepare you and your dog to pass the first level container search. At the completion of this course your dog should be able to reliably indicate the presence of the birch odor out of a row of 12 cardboard boxes.

Obedience - Beginners 1
Beginners obedience teaches you basic obedience skills such as walk on a loose leash, sit, lie down, coming when called, and stay.
*** Do NOT bring dogs first night of class ***

Obedience - Beginners 2
Advanced Beginners Obedience builds on the skills learned in beginners obedience.
You will learn heeling with turns, halts, changes of pace, introduction to the figure eight exercise, and recalls with front sits.

Obedience - Pre-Novice
This class builds on the skills learned in Obedience - Beginner 1. You will learn footwork to improve your turns as well as exercises to improve your dog’s attention and focus. The exercises for the AKC Beginner Novice and Pre-Novice classes and UKC Sub-Novice class will be covered.

Obedience - Novice
Novice is an introductory competition level class.
You will learn how to perfect both stationary and moving heel position, recalls, fronts and finishes and the figure eight. You will focus on handling skills and knowledge of the rules in the competition ring.
Prerequisite: Proof of Shots and Obedience - Rally 1 or Instructor Approval

Obedience - Open
Open introduces all the open level competition exercises.
You will learn retrieve on flat, retrieve over jump, drop on recall, broad jump and out of sight stays.
Prerequisite: Proof of Shots and Obedience - Novice

Obedience - Utility
Utility introduces all of the utility level exercises, both AKC and UKC.
You will learn signal exercise, scent discrimination, go outs, directed jumping, and directed retrieve.

Obedience - Rally
Rally is a sport in which the dog and handler complete a course consisting of various signs of obedience training maneuvers.Rally will prepare the dog and handler to advance to upper level obedience or agility.
Rally 1 teaches the novice level signs and the handling skills needed to perform each exercise correctly.
Rally 2 covers the advanced and excellent signs.

Obedience - Competition 1
This course is geared for dogs that already know how to heel on lead and have been taught to sit and stay in heel position. This class will perfect their heeling and attention to the handler.
